Charles Wilson Engineers Ltd Commits to Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is essential for creating a future for our planet and, as a business, Charles Wilson Engineers Ltd have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint however we can. One of the ways we are doing this is by cutting down our overall energy consumption using renewable energy.

With this responsibility in mind, we have created a programme for late 2018 and early 2019 which will see the installation of solar photovoltaic systems to the 11 feasible branches of our 18 nationwide. Continue reading to learn more about why, how, and the future of this scheme.

Why?

As we have touched on briefly already, we all need to make a concerted effort to reduce the impact we have on the environment. This can be done in various ways, including recycling and reducing overall consumption, but one of the most important ways for businesses is the shift toward renewable energy.

Reducing the carbon footprint of a business is not the only benefit of installing solar panels, however. This can also help to reduce running costs and even become a source of revenue if a surplus of energy is harnessed and can be sold back to the local grid. This money can then be reinvested into the business, even helping to increase the scope of our other environmental schemes in the future.

How?

Overall, we will be installing 1082 PV panels across our 11 branches, with the size range dependant on the roof capacity and energy consumption rate of the branch. The range is from 48 panels to 174 panels at either end of the scale – each individual panel generates 285w.

Altogether, once all of the solar panels have been installed in early 2019, they will be able to generate 307kWp at maximum capacity. For reference, that would power 3070 standard light bulbs for an hour, or 1228 large LCD TVs for an hour, or charge 61400 mobile phones for an hour. The maximum energy generated by the solar panels installed throughout our depots at the end of this stage of our programme will be up to enough to make 7675 cups of tea, per hour.

The Future of The Scheme

Here at Charles Wilson Engineers Ltd, we are very excited to be making this step forward for the future of our business and to hopefully reduce our impact on the planet. We see this as an extremely important investment and our hopes are to continue to grow this scheme as far as possible.

The plan moving forward, once the first stage is complete, will be to install solar photovoltaic systems on each of the new sites that we acquire moving forward, subject to suitability.
