We are delighted to announce that Charles Wilson has been appointed as an approved IPAF CAP (Competent Assessed Person) Training Centre. This accreditation enables us to deliver one of the industry’s most respected qualifications for professionals responsible for inspecting and maintaining mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) and construction hoists.
What is the CAP programme?
The IPAF CAP Programme is widely regarded as the gold standard for assessing the competence of service technicians and engineers who carry out statutory inspections on powered access equipment. Successful candidates are awarded the IPAF CAP card, demonstrating advanced knowledge of safety, inspection procedures, regulatory compliance and best practice in line with LOLER and PUWER.
The CAP assessment includes a mix of theory and practical elements. Candidates must prove their understanding of legislation and guidance, mechanical systems, electrical safety, maintenance regimes and fault diagnosis. They’re also assessed on their ability to carry out detailed examinations and inspections on a range of powered access machines.
