Training with CW Plant Hire: Common Questions Answered

  • What should I expect on the day of training?

On the day of training, you should expect a mix of morning theory learning about safety, regulations, and machine types, followed by an afternoon of practical hands-on experience with the specific equipment. The day concludes with a theory test and a practical assessment, after which you will receive your licence.

  • What should I bring with me?

You will need standard PPE, (hi-viz, safety boots and hard hat). Reading glasses if they are required, and clothing to suit the weather on the day.

  • Is lunch provided?

No, however we have a number of fast-food restaurants within walking distance, or shops within a 5 minute drive for sandwiches.

  • Do I need to have prior experience with the equipment?

You do not require previous experience to attend one of our courses. Our courses are categorised as Beginner, experienced and refresher, and you will be asked at the time of booking which course is required.

  • How long is the training?

Most of our courses are for 1 day, however if you are attending a beginner course for forklift or telehandler, these will vary from 2-4 days.

  • What certification will I receive?

All of our certificates will be issued digitally via an app, or as a PDF copy. Cards can be requested for IPAF at a small additional cost.

  • When will I receive my qualifications?

Licences are usually processed within 48 hours of training, however please allow up to 2 weeks during our busier periods.

  • Are the trainers certified?

All of our instructors have been directly trained under associations of the courses that we provide.

  • Do you provide on-site training at my location?

We can provide onsite training for those that have their own machines in place. There is no additional cost, just the requirement of a classroom and safe practical training space. There is a minimum number of trainees required for onsite training.

  • What if I need to reschedule my training?

If you are unable to attend your course, please let us know as early as possible to avoid charges. Courses cancelled within 48 hours will be charged at 50% of the course cost, and courses cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled start date will be charged at 100% of the course cost.

  • Do you offer group discounts?

If there are 4 or more people that require training, or you require multiple courses, then discounts can be applied.

  • What happens if I don't pass the assessment?

If you fail your theory or practical training, you will be given the option to rebook at a later date. There may be a charge for a new booking, dependent on the course.

  • What if I have special needs or require adjustments?

If you have special requirements for your training course, just let us know in advance and we work with you to provide any reasonable adjustments on the day.
